How do I convert PNG to PDF?

Choose your PNG files, or drop them on the box above. Drag the cards into the order you want, pick a page size, and decide what to do with transparent areas. Press Convert to PDF and each image becomes one page, scaled to fit without stretching and without losing sharpness.

  1. Press Choose PNG files and pick your screenshots or images.
  2. Drag the cards into order. A checkered background on a card shows see-through areas.
  3. Pick the page size. Same as image keeps each screenshot at its own shape, with no white bands.
  4. Under Transparent areas, keep them see-through or fill them with white or a color.
  5. Press Convert to PDF, then Download.

What happens to transparent areas in a PNG?

By default they stay transparent inside the PDF, using a transparency mask, so the page color shows behind them. If the PDF will be printed on colored paper, placed on a colored slide, or opened by software that shows transparency as black, choose Fill with white or Fill with a color.

Will the PDF be bigger or smaller than my PNG?

It depends on the PNG. A transparent logo and a photo PNG came out almost the same size as the image. A simple screenshot stored with few colors grew from 6.0 KB to 12 KB, because PDF stores it in full color. Large photo PNGs stay large, so tick the file size limit to store them as JPEG.

Measured on 2026-10-16 by the site build with the same code as the tool, one image per page, page sized to the image.
Test imagePNG sizePDF size
Screenshot (palette PNG, 1440 x 900)6.0 KB12 KB
Photo saved as PNG (1600 x 1200)5.3 MB5.2 MB
Logo with transparent background (800 x 800)34 KB33 KB

The file size limit turns images into JPEG step by step until the PDF fits. That suits photos; for screenshots full of small text, leave it off to keep the text sharp.

How do I turn several screenshots into one PDF?

Add all the screenshots at once; they become pages of one PDF in the order of the cards. Press A to Z to sort them by file name, which keeps numbered or dated screenshots in order. Choose Same as image as the page size so tall phone screenshots are not shrunk onto a wide page.

How do I convert PNG to PDF on iPhone, Mac or Windows?

On iPhone, open this page in Safari, tap Choose PNG files and pick screenshots from Photos. On a Mac, Preview can export one PNG at a time as a PDF. On Windows, open the image in Photos, press Ctrl+P and pick Microsoft Print to PDF. This page converts many images at once on all three, with transparency options.

Mac screenshots and the Windows Snipping Tool both save PNG files by default, which is why screenshot PDFs usually start as PNGs. Apple describes exporting from Preview in Export PDFs and images in Preview on Mac.

Limits and fixes

  • 16-bit PNGs are converted to 8 bits per channel, the depth PDF viewers show. Most screens cannot show the difference.
  • Animated PNGs become a still image of their first frame.
  • Very large images: anything over about 16 million pixels is scaled down to fit the browser's limit, mainly on iPhones.
  • Color profiles in PNG files are not carried into the PDF, so colors can shift very slightly.
  • Text in screenshots is not searchable. It is still a picture inside the PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting PNG to PDF lose quality?

No. PNG data stays lossless inside the PDF unless you turn on the file size limit, which stores images as JPEG to make them smaller.

Can I keep the transparent background?

Yes. Choose Keep transparent. The PDF keeps a transparency mask, and viewers show those areas on whatever is behind the page, usually white.

Why did my transparent PNG turn black?

Some older programs ignore transparency and show it as black. Choose Fill with white before converting so the PDF looks the same everywhere.

Can I mix PNG and JPG images?

Yes. PNG, JPG, WebP and GIF images can go into one PDF in any order.

How many images can I add?

There is no fixed limit. About 120 MB of images at once is the limit on a phone, and laptops handle much more.

Is there a watermark or sign-up?

No watermark, no sign-up and no daily limit.
