Merge PDF

Combine PDF files into one, or mix single pages from several PDFs, right in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.

How do I merge PDF files?

Choose two or more PDF files, or drop them on the box above. Drag the file cards into the order you want, type page numbers on a card if you only need some of its pages, then press Merge PDF. The merged file is ready to download in a few seconds, and nothing leaves your device.

  1. Press Choose PDF files and pick your files. You can add more later with + Add PDFs.
  2. Drag the cards into order. On a phone, drag by the dotted handle or use the arrow buttons.
  3. Optional: type pages such as 1-3, 5 on a card to use only those pages, or press the rotate button.
  4. Press Merge PDF, rename the file if you like, and press Download.

Can I merge only some pages, or mix pages from different files?

Yes. Type the pages you want on each file card, such as 2-4, 7, and only those pages go into the merged PDF, in the order you type them. To mix single pages across files, switch to Pages: every page becomes its own card that you can drag anywhere, rotate, duplicate or delete.

Colored tags show which file each page came from. Pages view is free here with no limit on the number of pages. Undo and redo cover every change, so it is safe to experiment.

What survives when PDFs are merged?

Text, images, page sizes and page rotation always come through unchanged. We ran 4 test files through this exact tool: web links kept working, and form fields stayed fillable after merging. Bookmarks (the outline in a PDF reader's sidebar) were dropped, so add them again afterwards if you need them.

Test merge run by the site's build on 2026-10-16, using the same code as the tool above.

The merged file had all 26 pages and weighed 1.3 MB, against 1.3 MB for the four inputs together. Merging does not compress anything; shared fonts are stored once, which is why the result can be a little smaller.

How do I combine PDF files on iPhone or Android?

Open this page in Safari or Chrome on your phone, tap Choose PDF files and pick the PDFs from Files, Downloads or Google Drive. Put them in order with the arrow buttons or by dragging the dotted handle, then tap Merge PDF at the bottom of the screen and Download. No app is needed.

On a phone the files stay in the phone's memory, so very large sets can be too much. The tool checks the total first and tells you if it is over about 120 MB, instead of letting the browser tab crash.

How do I combine PDF files on a Mac or on Windows without Acrobat?

On any Mac or Windows computer, this page works in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox with no install. On a Mac you can also use the built-in Preview app: open the first PDF, show thumbnails, and drag the others into the sidebar. Windows has no built-in merge tool, so a browser tool like this one is the free route.

Apple explains the Preview method step by step in Combine PDFs in Preview on Mac. Preview saves changes as you go, so Apple suggests File, then Duplicate, to keep a copy of each original first. This page never changes your originals.

How do I merge a double-sided scan?

A scanner with a document feeder may scan all the front sides first, then all the back sides, often in reverse order. Add the front-sides file first and the back-sides file second, then tick Double-sided scan. The tool interleaves the pages into reading order: front 1, back 1, front 2, back 2, and so on.

Is it safe to merge private PDFs here?

Yes, because the files never leave your device. Server-based PDF tools upload your files and delete them later. This tool reads them in your browser and builds the merged PDF there, so contracts, bank statements and ID scans stay with you. You can check this yourself by turning off Wi-Fi before you press Merge PDF.

Limits and fixes

  • Password-protected files cannot be merged until they are unlocked. The tool tells you which file is locked.
  • Bookmarks from the original files are not kept in the merged PDF.
  • Form fields with the same name in two files share one value after merging, because that is how PDF forms work. Rename fields before merging if they must stay separate.
  • Very large sets: phones handle about 120 MB at once and laptops about 600 MB. Merge in two rounds if you hit the limit.
  • Damaged PDFs that other readers struggle to open may fail here too. Opening and saving the file again in a PDF reader often fixes it.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?

No fixed limit. The only limit is your device memory, which is about 120 MB of files at once on a phone and much more on a laptop.

Will merging reduce the quality of my PDF?

No. Pages are copied exactly, without recompressing images, so the merged file looks the same as the originals.

Can I merge PDF and JPG files together?

This tool merges PDFs. Turn photos into a PDF first with JPG to PDF, then merge that PDF with the others.

Does the merged file have a watermark?

No. There is no watermark, no sign-up and no daily limit.

Can I undo a mistake before merging?

Yes. The undo and redo buttons in the toolbar step back and forward through every change you made in the workspace.

Why is my merged PDF larger than I expected?

The merged file is roughly the inputs added together, because nothing is compressed. Large scans and photos make large PDFs.
