How do I make a printable thank-you card?

Pick a design and color, and type the greeting on the front, such as Thank you. Type your message inside, or leave it empty to write by hand. Download the PDF and print the two pages on one sheet with two-sided printing, flipping on the long edge. Cut the sheet in half and fold each half into a note.

What should a thank-you card say?

Name what you are thanking them for, such as the gift, the visit or the help, and say one specific thing it meant to you or how you will use it. Add a warm closing line and sign your name. Two or three sentences is enough; a specific detail matters more than length.

Wording examples

Pick the occasion closest to yours and the message, the line under the heading and the sign-off fill in on the card. Change the details to the real gift or kindness.

What size is a folded thank-you card?

The notes here are A2 size, 4.25 by 5.5 inches when folded, two from one US Letter sheet (on A4, two A6 notes of 105 by 148 mm). The larger card folds a landscape Letter sheet in half, about 5.5 by 8.5 inches. Print on card stock so the card stands up. The flat option is 5 by 7 inches.

Can a thank-you card mail at postcard price?

Only a single flat card no larger than 4-1/4 by 6 inches, under the USPS Domestic Mail Manual. A 5 x 7 card, or any folded card in an envelope, mails as a letter. Square envelopes and stiff cards also pay a nonmachinable surcharge, so a rectangular envelope keeps postage at the regular letter price.

The 4.25 x 5.5 inch note fits an A2 envelope, 4-3/8 by 5-3/4 inches. The larger folded card (5.5 by 8.5 inches) fits an A9 envelope, 5-3/4 by 8-3/4 inches. The flat 5 x 7 card fits an A7 envelope, 5-1/4 by 7-1/4 inches. All three envelopes are inside the 1.3 to 2.5 shape range.
