Turn an Excel spreadsheet into a PDF that prints well: all columns on the page width, with the fonts, colors, borders and number formats from your file. Your workbook is converted in your browser and never uploaded.

How do I convert Excel to PDF?

Press Choose an Excel file and tick the sheets you want. Leave Fit on All columns on the page width, or pick Actual size. Choose the page size and orientation, then press Convert to PDF and Download. Each sheet starts on a new page, and the PDF gets one bookmark per sheet.

  1. Press Choose an Excel file (.xlsx, .xls, .ods or .csv).
  2. Tick the Sheets to convert.
  3. Pick Fit, Page size and Orientation; tick Print gridlines if you want cell lines.
  4. Press Convert to PDF, then Download.

How do I save an Excel sheet as a PDF so it fits on one page width?

In Excel, choose File, Print, then set Scaling to Fit All Columns on One Page, and save as PDF. This tool does the same by default: it measures the sheet, scales it so every column fits the page width, and fills each page with rows. Landscape gives wide sheets larger text.

Will my numbers and dates look the same?

Yes. The tool shows each cell as Excel displays it, using the cell's number format. This table shows stored values and how the tool's own format code turns them into text, the same text Excel shows. Formulas show the result saved in the file.

How long does it take?

A second or two on a computer for each of the workbooks we tested, which the table below lists with their sizes and times. Very large sheets take longer, and a sheet over 400,000 cells is converted in part, with a note saying so on the page.

Limits and fixes

  • Charts, pictures and shapes placed on a sheet are not drawn yet.
  • Formulas show the result saved in the file; if a file was never opened in Excel, some results may be missing.
  • .xls, .ods and .csv files keep their values, widths and merged cells, but not cell colors or borders. Save as .xlsx for full formatting.
  • Headers and footers set in Excel's page setup are not printed.
  • Rotated text in cells is shown level.

Yes, with no sign-up, watermark or file limit.

Does it work with Google Sheets?

Yes. In Google Sheets choose File, Download, Microsoft Excel (.xlsx), then convert that file here.
