How do I convert a PDF to Excel?
Press Choose a PDF, keep Save as on Excel workbook, and choose one sheet per table, per page, or one sheet for everything. Press Convert to Excel and check the preview of the tables found, then Download. If the PDF has no clear tables, choose All text, line by line to get every line in its own row.
- Press Choose a PDF.
- Pick Save as (.xlsx or CSV), What to convert and Sheets.
- For scanned pages, leave Read scanned pages with OCR on and pick the language.
- Press Convert to Excel, check the preview, then Download.
Will numbers work in formulas after converting?
Yes. Cells that hold a number become numbers in Excel, not text, so SUM and other formulas work at once. The tool keeps the look as a number format: currency symbols, thousands separators, percent, and negatives shown in brackets. This table shows how its own code reads common PDF values.

Can it read bank statements without table lines?
Yes. When a statement has no lines between rows, the tool looks for text that lines up in columns over several rows, and keeps a description that wraps onto a second line in one cell. This table shows our test files converted with the tool.

Measured on 2026-10-12 in Chrome 152 on an i5-8350U laptop.
Limits and fixes
- Unusual layouts, such as tables split across columns or with cells in several lines everywhere, may need tidying in Excel.
- Dates come across as text exactly as printed; use Excel's Text to Columns or DATEVALUE to turn them into dates.
- Scanned pages are read with OCR; check the numbers, since OCR can misread a digit.
- Cell colors and borders are not copied; the values and number formats are.
- Locked PDFs need their password removed first with Unlock PDF.

Why does CSV have blank rows between tables?
A CSV file holds one sheet, so tables follow each other with a blank row between them. Choose .xlsx to get separate sheets.
What if no tables are found?
Choose All text, line by line: every line becomes a row, split into cells at wide gaps.
