  2. Check that Target size says 200 KB.
  3. Press Compress to 200 KB.
  4. Check the new size, then press Download.

What fits in 200 KB?

At 200 KB a one-page scan fits at 150 dpi, enough for clearly printed text, while a three-page photo scan needs 96 dpi. Text-only documents fit with room to spare. The table shows our test files compressed to exactly 200 KB: 4 of 4 fit.

Run on 2026-10-17 by the site build with the tool's engine (build JPEG encoder; browser sizes differ a little).

How to get a PDF under 200 KB

  • Gray scans fit far more pages in 200 KB than color ones.
  • Keep scans at 150 to 200 dpi; higher only adds size the form will not use.
  • Remove blank pages first with Delete PDF Pages.
  • For photos of documents, make sure the page fills the frame.

Why can't my PDF reach the size?

Compression shrinks images; it cannot shrink text, fonts and drawings much, and pictures can only lose so much detail before they become unreadable. A long scan in color may simply hold too much at 200 KB. Try black and white images, remove pages you do not need, or split the document into parts.

Other sizes

100 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB, for email, or any size with Compress PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up, no daily limit and no watermark.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Compression runs in your browser, so the file stays on your device.

Only images, and only as much as needed to fit. Text stays sharp.

Can I compress several files?

Yes. Each file is fitted to 200 KB on its own and you get one ZIP.

Will links and form fields still work?

Yes. Only images are re-encoded.
