What is a commercial invoice?
It is the invoice that travels with goods shipped across a border. The International Trade Administration describes it as a required document for export and import clearance, and in the buyer's country customs officials use it to assess import duties and taxes. It lists the seller, buyer, goods, values and terms of sale.
- Type the exporter and the consignee.
- List each item with its HS code, origin, quantity and value.
- Add Incoterms, the reason for export, packages and weight.
- Tick the destination control statement if your goods need it.
- Sign the declaration and download the PDF.
What is an HS code and do I need it?
An HS code is the Harmonized System number that classifies a product for customs worldwide. The International Trade Administration says adding it to the commercial invoice can speed up export clearance and help import clearance in the buyer's country, because it gives a universal description of the goods for duties. Look up your code before shipping.
When do I need a destination control statement?
Under 15 CFR 758.6, US exporters must put the destination control statement on the commercial invoice when shipping items on the Commerce Control List, unless the item is EAR99 or ships under License Exception BAG or GFT. Tick the option and the page adds the statement word for word. Check your item's classification first.

Frequently asked questions
Is it free?

Can I list values in another currency?
Yes. Pick it in the Currency setting; it prints on the invoice.
Where is my invoice kept?
In this browser only, as a draft. Nothing is uploaded.
