How do I fill out a PDF form?
Press Choose a PDF form. The form's boxes appear as fields you can type into; press Tab to move to the next one. Tick checkboxes and pick from lists. If the PDF has no boxes, choose Text and click where the answer goes. Press Save filled PDF, then Download. Tick Lock the answers to stop later changes.
- Press Choose a PDF form.
- Click a box and type; press Tab for the next box.
- For flat forms, choose Text, ✓ Check or Date and click the page.
- Optionally tick Lock the answers.
- Press Save filled PDF, then Download.
How do I fill a PDF that is not fillable?
Some forms are just printed pages turned into PDF, with lines instead of boxes. Choose Text, click on a line, and type. Use ✓ Check to tick a box and Date to add today's date. Each piece of text can be removed with its small cross. To make such a form fillable for others, use Create Fillable PDF.
Will my answers show in every PDF reader?
Yes. Values are written into the form's fields together with how each box should look, so readers that do not redraw fields still show your answers. In our build test, every value of a 8-field form read back correctly, including the name Zoë Kowalski.

Can I fill IRS and government forms?
Government forms that use standard PDF form fields fill here like any other form. Some forms use an older Adobe format called XFA; the tool detects those and says when a form can only be filled in Adobe Reader. Forms that add up totals by themselves do not calculate here, so fill those boxes yourself.
Limits and fixes
- XFA forms (dynamic Adobe forms) cannot be filled here; the tool says so.
- Calculations and formatting scripts in forms do not run; type totals yourself.
- Signature boxes are left for Sign PDF.
- Chinese, Japanese and Korean answers cannot be saved yet; the tool names those letters before saving.
- Locked PDFs need their password removed first with Unlock PDF.
